Kings of Leon in Concert (March 2011, AUS)

The latest release
They’d be housepainters if they hadn’t discovered their musical talents, and aren’t we all glad they did! Moving from Southern American rock and roll and blues to alternative rock and arena rock, it’s been a great journey for the American rockers Kings of Leon. Next year, KOL will be heading our way.

Kings of Leon is a family affair – three brothers and their cousin - Caleb Followill on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Jared Followill on bass; Matthew Followill on lead guitar (the cousin); and Nathan Followill on drums.

The brothers’ childhood is a remarkable story. The sons of a Pentacostal preacher, there was a lot of travelling, home-schooling, and never enough secular music. When their father resigned from the church and divorced their mother it was the end of a way of life.

Moving to Nashville, Tennessee, Nathan and Caleb met songwriter and former member of the new wave band Face to Face Angelo Petraglia. The deal was sealed when Jared and Matthew joined in to create the Kings of Leon (named after their father Leon Followill).

Debuting with Youth and Young Manhood (2003), Kings of Leon have gone on to create Aha Shake Heartbreak (2005), Because of the Times (2007), Only by the Night (2008), and their latest Come Around Sundown (2010). With each album they’ve gone a step further in exploring their musical dimensions. Their music is forceful, intense and intimate. Plus, Caleb has the kind of voice that can just tear you up.
